MemorialEcho exists to help you remember and celebrate the people you love. We know that the information you share with us, photographs, stories, dates, and the names of family and friends, is deeply personal. This policy explains in plain language what we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices you have. We have tried to avoid legal jargon so that anyone can understand it.

Information we collect

When you create an account or a memorial, we collect the details you give us: your name, email address, and the content you add to a memorial page. If you make a payment, our payment provider processes your card details directly and we never store your full card number on our servers. When you visit the site we also collect basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you view, so that we can keep the service secure and understand how it is used.

How we use your information

We use your information to operate the service: to create and display memorial pages, to let family and friends contribute tributes and gifts, to send the emails you ask for, and to protect the community from spam and abuse. We use a small amount of aggregate, anonymous data to improve the site. We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we do not show third-party advertising on memorial pages.

Memorial content and visibility

You control who can see each memorial. A page can be fully public and listed, reachable only by a private link, protected by a shared password, or kept private to invited family. Content added by visitors, such as tributes, is reviewed before it appears. You can edit or remove a memorial you own at any time, and you may transfer responsibility for a page to a trusted family member so that it can be cared for across generations.

How we protect your information

We use encryption in transit, restrict access to personal data to the people who need it, and store sensitive documents, such as verification records, encrypted at rest. No online service can promise perfect security, but we work hard to keep your memories safe and to fix any issue quickly if one arises.

Your rights and choices

You can access, correct, export, or delete your personal information at any time. You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in each message. If you would like us to remove a memorial or your account, contact us and we will help. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, and we honor those rights for everyone.

Children

The service is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Memorials may of course remember a child who has passed; in that case the page is created and managed by an adult family member.
